Obsessions ---->
The Seah Terrible Two have unleashed their haughty opinions of the season on us all, and have requested I inflict mine as well. In the spirit of trying (trying, trying, because A Mag is not so distant a hope) and simply because there is too much generic cloning going on in the streets of Singapore, I humbly oblige.
1. Lanvin, & Jil Sander. Ditto C & B.
2. Go architectural. I have an indescribable urge to shy away from over-intricacy of embellishment, or lines. Go bold, go clean. You like your gladiators? Be brave. Fat plaster straps trump noodle straps.
3. Denim/chambray shirts. No, step away slowly from the cowboy vintage rack with your hands where we can see them. Think BuiltbyWendy, Alexander Wang. Thaaat's it...everything will be okay.
4. Drop waists, cut-aways; the pretty silhouette has been done, and R.I.P. it's been a good run. The intelligent silhouette beckons now, ditch flattering, embrace strange.
5. Color slabs...
6. ...but, having said that, tie-dyes and ikats. Can you say no to Dries Van Noten?
7. DRIES VAN NOTEN. 'Nough said. If you are not acquainted, this is your lucky season.
8. Skyscraper, or ground-level. Pick one; fall in between at risk of coming out lukewarm.
9. Plastic, patent. Fringe, felt.
10. Spandex, spandex, spandex.
11. Ugly clothes. If you can do it.
12. Backward shirts
13. Plastic fantastic frames should only be allowed if you have a license
14. Chains, not charms
15. A Mag, curated by Kris van Assche
Go forth, do good, not evil
I will be collecting your twopence, kids, thanks.
